USDA Appoints Key Senior Staff Positions

New officials will begin leading department offices in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the new leaders who will be joining their offices in Washington, D.C., this month.

Cathy Cochran, who formerly served as the USDA’s press secretary during President Obama’s administration, has been appointed the Director of the Office of Communications. Director Cochran brings her extensive knowledge of food and agriculture policy to this role.

Mia Mayberry has been appointed to the position of Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs. She has served in a number of high-profile political campaigns, and before that practiced employment law as an attorney.

Michele Altemus has been appointed the Senior Advisor for External Communications with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Altemus previously served in both President Biden’s and President Clinton’s administrations, bringing experiences in both the USDA and the Department of the Interior to this new role.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That these new appointees would seek God’s discernment as they settle into their respective roles.
  • For Secretary Vilsack to be led by the Lord as he heads the USDA.
  • For the president and his advisors as they promote conservation and environmental policies.
